Mentoring Opportunities

“The SITE student I am paired with is a lot of fun to be around.  I have learned so many interesting things about him and what he is good at.  It’s been really great and I really liked it.”

Remember your first day of college?  Did someone help you locate the Campus Center or your classroom?  Did you ever feel lost in a new class and wish there was someone to guide you? Were you looking for ways to meet new people or get involved on campus but found it difficult without help? Were you a peer tutor/mentor in high school? Do you need to fulfill community service requirements but cannot find the right fit? Are you interested in social justice issues? Is your career goal to become a teacher, social worker or human services professional?

If any of these questions strike a chord with you, mentoring an IUPUI SITE student is an opportunity you should pursue.

Mentoring a SITE student can take many forms…like:

  • Welcoming and supporting a person to become involved in a student organization, service opportunity, or civic engagement experience.
  • Helping a classmate feel greater membership and involvement in a class
  • Being a peer tutor.
  • Engaging in an activity of common interest.
  • Assisting with meeting new friends and making connections on campus and in the community.
